Some things...

Some things I love about Aleczander:
1. I love his hands. There is nothing sweeter than a child's hands. So little. So soft and sweet.

2. I love his crazy hair. If you have never met Aleczander, he has 2 very crazy and powerful cowlicks that make his hair and ever lasting crazy mess.

3. I love his dancing. When a good tune comes on, I love how he kind of bounces and sways in place. He could be in the middle of playing with his toys but he just dances his little jig in place.

4. I love his profile. His profile is still identical to the way it looked in his 3D ultrasound and it amazes me to this day.

The ultrasound is him looking to the left and his little hands are covering his nose.  So the parts of the face that can be seen are his chin and his cheeks and his eyes, which are closed.

5. I love how he loves his daddy. When daddy comes home from work it is very obvious that it is Alec's favorite part of the day.

6. I love his independence. There are times when I get my feelings hurt because he is so independent but for the most part I like that he uses his imagination and he can play on his own.

7. I love smile.  His smile and his laugh are so contagious.  Even if he is doing something he isn't suppose to be doing, if he finds it funny, so do I.

Some things about baby girl and this pregnancy:
My cervix is staying pretty consistent.  It is still measuring around the same it has for the past weeks.  So I continue to be on bed rest.  But there is a small ray of hope.  Doc says that if I measure the same next week that he may allow me to return to work but I have to be sitting down 50% of my day.  So now I am waiting for an approval from work to see if I am even allowed to return with conditions like that.  I am a little nervous about going back to work though.  I am so use to being horizontal all day and doing very little that any time I do get up to do a tiny bit of house work or hang out with Alec, I get tired and dizzy very easily. After 5 weeks of being so still, my body isn't use to moving around.  If/when I go back to work, I have a feeling it isn't going to be easy.  Even taking a shower is exhausting these days.  The joys of bed rest!  People tell me "I would gladly trade places with you" or "you're so lucky that you get to be in bed all day" but I wouldn't wish this hell on anyone.  Staying in bed all day.  Bored, worried, alone, anxious, restless.  So, fingers crossed that my body cooperates and that I can go back to work. But only if it doesn't put my baby girl at risk. I miss my work people.  I miss doing my job.

I registered for some stuff on amazon.com since I can't make it to an actual store quite yet.   I am hoping to have a baby shower for baby girl in the beginning of November.  She is moving a lot these days. I finally gained some weight.  A whole 5lbs.  But since the beginning of this pregnancy I am still 16lbs down.  My doc said that he would normally get on to someone who gained 5lbs in one week but I needed to gain some weight and he was happy to see that I did.  But I still have some ground to make up. Here are a couple of week 24 (6 months) pictures.

I have a huge craving for cantaloupe but I just found out today that cantaloupe has been recalled due to listeria bacteria harming and even killing some people.  Not cool.  Cantaloupe has been my 4a.m. meal when baby girl wakes me up starving.

Well that's all I have for today.  If I do get to go back to work, I can foresee the frequency of the blogs coming down a bit.  Prayers and fingers crossed!!!

Change is good. But so is staying the same.

Maybe you have heard the saying that "change is a good thing." And as a person who gets bored easily, I totally agree.  But in the case of a short cervix, change could be bad thing.  It just depends on the change.  In my case there is no change, so it's a good thing.  My cervix measured this week at 2.2 centimeters so it is staying pretty consistent with all the other measurements.  So the good news is that is hasn't gotten shorter.  That is something to thank God for.  Bad news is that my doctor still wants me on bed rest for at least another 2 weeks.  He is trying to get me as close to my 3rd trimester as possible before he takes any risks like sending me back to work. When I do (if ever) get released to go back to work, I will be chained to my desk and not really allowed to walk or stand through out the day.  So here I will lay for another week.  Actually, another week and 2 days.  My next doctor' appointment is next Wednesday.

I am desperate to find things to keep me entertained and busy.  As I mentioned earlier, I get bored easily so the same things over and over are getting on my nerves.  I started to crochet a blanket for my baby girl but I gave that up about 2 weeks ago.  In about a week, that may become interesting again. I need to search for some new apps for my iPad, but even it has lost it's appeal.  Watching "Friends" on Nick at Night on TV has kept me satisfied at night so that is good.  I have picked up on a new website obsession though.  It's http://www.pinterest.com/  If you haven't been on it before, DON'T DO IT!! It becomes all consuming and obsessive.  I love it!  A friend of mine recommended on-line scrap booking and it is something I really want to get into. I checked it out but as I mentioned in my very first blog post, once I start something, I don't stop until I'm done.  So I need to be prepared mentally before I take on an endeavor such as scrap booking.  I have done one scrapbook in my life and I lost so much sleep over that thing! A couple of weeks ago I started to read "The Help" because I have seen so many good things about it but it hasn't really grabbed me yet.

One good thing that this bed rest/at home time has allowed me to do is take more pics of my baby boy doing things through out the day.

Here are some of him enjoying the couple of days of beautiful weather we had outside.
Don't mind his hair.  He had just woken up from a nap.

Can't forget about Lilly.

Here are some of him enjoying a bubble bath.

And here are some of him working on an art project.  I got the idea from pinterest.com.

The final product.

This past weekend I allowed myself a couple of minutes to get out of the house to enjoy a snow cone.
Here are some pics of Aleczander enjoying his.

 I love that face.

And here he is with his favorite blanket, in his favorite place... up his nose.

And then just a couple of pics of him playing at home and hanging out with his favorite person, daddy.

One of my dreams is to own a fancy camera and know how to operate it correctly.  My biggest dream is to be a self employed photographer and take beautiful images.  I want to grow up to be just like Amanda Adams!  Ha!  She is the wife of a guy I went to high school with and she is one AMAZING photographer.  Check her stuff out ----> http://www.dayzphotography.com/.

We are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of Ms. Miana Nicole Borgman.  She was due on Saturday, September 10th but she is still hiding out.  Come on baby girl!! I can't wait to hold you!! I guess she will come when she is good and ready.  Or when the doc decided to evict her. Ha!

Well that's all I have for this week.  As requested the past 3 weeks, please keep my family in your prayers.  God is good and I know with him that all things are possible.  I know he will get my family through this trying time and before we know it, our baby girl will be here for us all to spoil.

Sick Baby = Sad Mommy

It's been a rough couple of days.  On Wednesday night, my poor buddy got sick.  He threw up around 8pm for the first time then about an hour later again.  After that, it continued about every half hour.  He would get sick, then fall right back to sleep.  But half an hour later, he was up and back at it.  Alfred and I had his monitor on really loud and were on full alert for hours.  I called his pediatrician and they gave me some sound advice but didn't sound too concerned.  Until around midnight.  His throw up changed colors to a dark brown and was really thick (may be too much information but that's reality). If you know anything about me then you know that throw up is my absolute biggest fear but this just took it to another level.  We were really concerned that it was blood so we took him to the ER.  Soooooo scary.  And our poor buddy looked so sad and tired. Good news is that they said it wasn't blood but just left over junk in his tummy and that also sometimes bile can be a really dark color.

Alec is NOT got at taking oral meds AT ALL so the initial attempts to giving him Zofran (an orally dissolving tablet to stop vomiting) did not go well.  He just continued to spit them out.  So we had to go the other way around, if you know what I mean.  That seemed to help and he was keeping water down so they sent us home around 5:00am.  Loooooong night.

Here is a sweet pic of my boys catching a couple of minutes of shut eye while we were in the ER.

Alfred had to be at work at 7:30 for a meeting and had to have a meeting with is boss but after that he came home and crashed.  Alec and I got to bed around 5:30am but Alec woke up around 7:30am.  He laid down for a nap around noon but didn't wake up until 6pm.  During that time I got maybe 2 hours of sleep.  So since yesterday, my day has been  roller coaster of emotions, fear and anxiety.  Alfred was concerned about me during the night while we were in the hospital because I wasn't laying down and following doctor's orders of bed rest. It is impossible to be on bed rest when you have a sick child.  I could barely sit still for a couple of minutes.  So needless to say, from Wednesday until last night, doctor's order of bed rest weren't really followed.  There was a day in the past couple of days of bed rest though that Aleczander climbed into bed with me to hang out.

He loves that blanket so much.  His new thing is to stick the corners of it up his nose and smell it, as pictured here.  I don't question it.  Whatever makes him happy...

You know what makes me happy?  October - February.  I love everything about October, November, December and January.  It is my absolute favorite time of the year. To kick off my favorite time of the year, today the Buzzfest line up for October's show was announced.  Staind is performing and I love me some Staind!!  I am really hoping that hubby gets us some tickets but I'm hoping even more that I am off of bed rest and we can go.  Come on Monday, bring us good news!

One week at a time.

That's all I can do is take it one week at a time.  Our doctor's appointment didn't go as we had hoped today.  We were hoping that things had gotten better or at least stayed the same but instead they aren't as good as they were last week.  This week, my cervix measured at 2.1 centimeters.  Not good. So I have been ordered to another week of bed rest.  I feel very helpless and frustrated by the situation but I know my doctor will do everything in his power to make sure our princess is safe.  So here I am... for another week at least.  Just like I have been hoping for the past 2 weeks, I hope our next appointment brings better news.  Does anyone have any bed rest survival tips?  I have had just about enough of TV, my iPad, movies and the Internet.  I wish someone did at home pedicures and manicures.  That would be nice.

I may need to start searching for some at home work.  Something that I can sell or do from home to bring in some extra cash until I am allowed to go back to work.  If you have any ideas, please feel free to drop them off here.  Thanks!

On a lighter note, we have a name

But just a first one.  And no, we won't be revealing it until the day our princess arrives.  We are still on the hunt for a middle name which seems to be a little harder for us to come up with.  According to babycenter.com my baby girl is approximately 10 and 1/2 inches long right now and can probably hear me when I talk.  It also says that I should be feeling pretty comfortable but for some reason, I'm not as comfortable as I hoped to be.  I still have nausea at night, mostly around dinner time.  Dinner sometimes consists of fruit or cereal for me because everything else makes my stomach turn.  I wake up starving at least 2 times a night but the only things that look half appealing to me are yogurt and fruit.  I am definitely showing a lot more than I was with Alec at this point.  I look like I am around 6 to 7 months pregnant, not only 5 and a half.  I still have not gained any weight and total to date, I am around 20 lbs down.  Something I would be proud of under normal, not pregnant circumstances.

The highlight of my week hasn't even happened yet but the anticipation of it keeps me in good spirits!  To what am I referring to?  The birth of the highly anticipated beautiful Miana Nicole Borgman.  Miana is still hiding out and Jennifer is due in 4 days.  I already told Alfred and my mom (who are both taking great care of me right now) that nothing is going to stop me from going to meet my beautiful niece once she arrives.  The doctor says I can spend some time out of bed, so my trip to the hospital will have to consume my weekly allowance of "out of bed" time.  Besides spending time with Aleczander, I can't think of a better reason to be out of bed.

Well that's this week's update.  Stay tuned and keep fingers crossed for next week's update.

One week later...

We went to the doctor on Tuesday and we got a little bit of good news.  Last week my cervix measured at 2.2 centimeters and this week it measures at 2.7 centimeters.  So, it has gotten longer, but not long enough.  As I mentioned in my last post, the "normal" length is at least 3.0 centimeters.  So the doctor has ordered another week of bed rest but it's not as restricted.  He has given me the permission to be a little more active but I can't pick up anything over 10 lbs and I can't really leave my house.  I have another appointment with him next Tuesday to have yet another ultrasound to see what it measures then.  He wants to get a third reading to have a better idea of which reading (the 2.2 or the 2.7) is the more accurate.  So there was a little relief that it didnt' get shorter and there isn't an immediate danger but it's still worrisome that things aren't the way they should be.  Prayers are still needed and still very much appreciated.

To help pass some of the bed rest time, Alfred moved Aleczander's DVD player into our room and I have been occupying my time with a lot of "Friends" seasons and some movies that I have never seen before.  I also started to crochet a blanket for my baby girl.  It's not the prettiest thing on earth but I'm making it with love.  I have also been doing a lot of online searching/shopping to help prepare for Cory's (one of my best friends) baby shower coming up in October.  I hope I am off of bed rest by then and I will be able to attend.  She and I have been friends since first grade.  She is also having a girl, Isabella Danielle.  It is such an amazing feeling to be having a baby with 2 of my best friends.  Jennifer --- who is ready to go any day now --- is having a baby girl as well, Miana Nicole.  I am loving the idea of our baby girls growing up together!

Late last week, Alfred felt our baby girl kick.  Just once, but he definitely felt her.  Of course, I feel her everyday.  She's a feisty one.  Just like her momma.  I don't think it has truly hit me yet that in about 4 months time I will have a little princess to love on.  I think it will hit me when I do my first bit of shopping for her.  Unfortunately, since the day we found out that the baby is actually a "her,"  I have been locked up in this house.  Let's hope that these are the last few days of that.  My next doctor's appointment is on Tuesday.  So until then ... I will be here.
