We went to the doctor on Tuesday and we got a little bit of good news. Last week my cervix measured at 2.2 centimeters and this week it measures at 2.7 centimeters. So, it has gotten longer, but not long enough. As I mentioned in my last post, the "normal" length is at least 3.0 centimeters. So the doctor has ordered another week of bed rest but it's not as restricted. He has given me the permission to be a little more active but I can't pick up anything over 10 lbs and I can't really leave my house. I have another appointment with him next Tuesday to have yet another ultrasound to see what it measures then. He wants to get a third reading to have a better idea of which reading (the 2.2 or the 2.7) is the more accurate. So there was a little relief that it didnt' get shorter and there isn't an immediate danger but it's still worrisome that things aren't the way they should be. Prayers are still needed and still very much appreciated.
To help pass some of the bed rest time, Alfred moved Aleczander's DVD player into our room and I have been occupying my time with a lot of "Friends" seasons and some movies that I have never seen before. I also started to crochet a blanket for my baby girl. It's not the prettiest thing on earth but I'm making it with love. I have also been doing a lot of online searching/shopping to help prepare for Cory's (one of my best friends) baby shower coming up in October. I hope I am off of bed rest by then and I will be able to attend. She and I have been friends since first grade. She is also having a girl, Isabella Danielle. It is such an amazing feeling to be having a baby with 2 of my best friends. Jennifer --- who is ready to go any day now --- is having a baby girl as well, Miana Nicole. I am loving the idea of our baby girls growing up together!
Late last week, Alfred felt our baby girl kick. Just once, but he definitely felt her. Of course, I feel her everyday. She's a feisty one. Just like her momma. I don't think it has truly hit me yet that in about 4 months time I will have a little princess to love on. I think it will hit me when I do my first bit of shopping for her. Unfortunately, since the day we found out that the baby is actually a "her," I have been locked up in this house. Let's hope that these are the last few days of that. My next doctor's appointment is on Tuesday. So until then ... I will be here.
